“Scottish
Banknotes” an illustrated talk by Ronnie Breingan. Most of
us probably hardly ever look closely at the banknotes we use
every day. Ronnie is a collector of old banknotes and has a wide
knowledge of the history and development, of these often
overlooked works of art, and he will be pointing out some of the
intricate detail.

A walk in the area of Portencross
Castle with Isabel Garrett 3-4 miles round trip. Meet at 2pm
at the Portencross Castle car park. |
Thursday 19th October
|
|
“A Short History of Ceramics”
an illustrated talk by John Rattenbury. John will be looking at
how ceramics have developed over the ages, including china and
porcelain.

Thursday 16th November

|
“Culzean Castle and the Kennedy
Family”. Lorna Cawood will be telling us some fascinating
stories surrounding the history of the Kennedy Family and this
very beautiful castle, designed by Robert Adam.

Sunday 3rd December and Sunday 10th
December

Helping at "Victorian Christmas at
Culzean". Members help to brew and serve the mulled wine in
true Victorian style.

“Quiz Night” a light hearted
evening of fun. A general knowledge, quiz night with prizes to
be won.

Saturday 27th January
|
|
“A Burns Evening at Culzean”. A
meal, with a good menu, including a course of haggis and neeps,
as well as roast lamb and all the trimmings. Entertainment is
included. Venue Ailsa Room, Culzean Castle 7.30 pm |
Thursday 15th February

“Tracing Ancestors and Family Stories”.
Mary Platt will be giving us insights into how she traced her
family history, and tips on how best to find out about your
family if you wish to. Even if you don’t, this promises to be a
very interesting evening, as Mary traces her ancestors back
through time. |

"A walking tour of 'Auld Ayr'" with
John Rattenbury 2-3 miles round trip Meet at 2pm outside the
Horizon Hotel, Esplanade, Ayr. |

“The New Burns Centre”. Michael
Hunter, Director West Region National Trust for Sctoland, will
be telling us about the plans for the new Burns Centre at
Alloway. |
Thursday 19th April

“Smoked Food Through the Ages”.
Donald Smith of the Burns Country Smokehouse, in Minishant is
coming to tell us how smoking and curing food has developed and
changed over the years. You will be able to taste samples of his
delicious smoked food.

A.G.M. at Culzean Castle

Summer Outing - To CRAIGENGILLEN, for a finger buffet and
wine in the castle dining hall then a tour of the castle.
